Symptoms
Oil filter differential pressure has exceeded 1.0 bar (14.5 psi), indicating a clogged spin-on filter element. The alarm is triggered by the differential pressure switch across the filter housing.
Possible Causes
- Oil filter element overdue for replacement based on runtime hours
- Degraded oil causing sludge buildup in the filter media (oxidation or contamination)
- Wrong oil viscosity grade used, increasing flow resistance through the filter
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the service timer on the Elektronikon - compare actual hours since last oil filter change
Replace the spin-on filter if hours exceed 2000 or the alarm is active - Step 2: Take an oil sample and inspect for dark color, burnt odor, or metallic particles
If oil is degraded, perform a full oil change with Atlas Copco Roto-Inject Fluid and replace both filter and separator - Step 3: Verify the oil viscosity grade on the drum matches the specification sticker inside the service door
Drain and refill with correct 46-grade synthetic compressor oil if mismatch is found
How to Reset
Reset: Replace the oil filter, then press the Service Reset button on the Elektronikon for the oil filter timer. The differential switch resets automatically when pressure drops.
