Applicable Systems
Bystronic Laser System
Symptoms
The Bystronic laser system displays alarm BYL007, indicating assist gas pressure low. The cutting assist gas, typically oxygen or nitrogen, is below the required pressure for the current cutting parameters.
Possible Causes
- Assist gas supply cylinder is empty or the bulk supply has dropped below the minimum pressure
- Gas regulator is set incorrectly or the regulator filter is blocked, reducing the gas delivery pressure
- Gas supply line or fitting has a leak, causing the pressure to drop below the setpoint at the cutting head
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the assist gas supply cylinder or bulk supply pressure at the source
Supply pressure is at or above the minimum required for the cutting parameters, typically 15-25 bar - Step 2: Verify the gas regulator output pressure and inspect the regulator filter for blockage
Regulator output is at the setpoint and the filter is clean with no blockage - Step 3: Perform a leak test on the gas supply line and all fittings with a soap solution
No leaks are detected at any fitting or along the supply line with the soap solution test
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace the empty gas cylinder or restore bulk supply pressure. 2. Adjust the regulator or clean the filter. 3. Repair gas line leaks. 4. Press RESET. 5. Verify assist gas pressure is stable during cutting.
