Applicable Systems
MAN Roland Offset Printing Machine
Symptoms
The MAN Roland press displays error MR009, indicating the IR/UV dryer is overheating. The drying unit temperature has exceeded the safe limit, risking fire or substrate damage.
Possible Causes
- Dryer exhaust duct blocked with paper dust or ink vapor condensate
- Dryer lamp reflectors fouled, reducing efficiency and trapping heat
- Substrate speed too slow, causing excessive heat dwell time
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the dryer exhaust airflow and inspect the duct for blockages
Airflow is strong and the duct is clear of lint and condensate - Step 2: Clean the dryer lamp reflectors with the recommended solvent
Reflectors are bright and free of ink or dust buildup - Step 3: Verify the press speed matches the dryer's rated capacity
Speed is within the dryer's specified range for the substrate and ink coverage
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Stop the press immediately. 2) Clear the exhaust blockage and clean reflectors. 3) Allow the dryer to cool below 80C. 4) Restart at a safe speed and monitor temperature.
