MAN Roland Offset Printing Machine
Symptoms
The MAN Roland press displays error MR010, indicating a UV lamp fault. The ultraviolet curing lamp is not igniting or has failed, leaving the UV ink uncured.
Possible Causes
- UV lamp has exceeded its rated operating hours and the cathode is depleted
- UV power supply ballast or inverter failed, not delivering strike voltage
- Lamp reflector is dirty or the shutter is stuck closed
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the lamp operating hour counter against the rated lamp life
Hours are below the rated life, typically 1000-2000 hours for medium-pressure lamps - Step 2: Test the lamp strike voltage with a high-voltage probe
Ballast delivers the required strike voltage, typically 1000-3000V depending on lamp type - Step 3: Inspect the reflector and shutter for cleanliness and freedom of movement
Reflector is clean and the shutter opens fully when the lamp is commanded on
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace the UV lamp if hours are exceeded. 2) Replace the ballast if it fails to strike. 3) Clean the reflector and free the shutter. 4) Press RESET and verify UV output with a radiometer.
