Symptoms
The packaging line reports a motor overload. A drive motor has exceeded its rated current, tripping the overload protection.
Possible Causes
- Mechanical jam or excessive load on the driven component
- Motor bearing failure causing drag
- Incorrect motor parameter settings in the drive
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Inspect the drive train for jams or excessive friction
Drive train rotates freely without obstruction - Step 2: Check motor temperature and bearing condition
Motor runs cool with no abnormal bearing noise - Step 3: Verify drive parameter settings match the motor nameplate
Parameters are correctly configured
How to Reset
To reset: Clear the overload cause, then reset the motor overload relay.
