Symptoms
The packaging line reports a temperature control valve fault. A process temperature control valve is not maintaining the setpoint.
Possible Causes
- Control valve actuator air supply insufficient
- Valve positioner out of calibration
- Temperature controller PID settings incorrect
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Verify air supply to the valve actuator
Air pressure meets the actuator requirement - Step 2: Calibrate the valve positioner against actual position
Positioner accurately tracks the control signal - Step 3: Tune the PID parameters for stable temperature control
Temperature maintains setpoint without oscillation
How to Reset
To reset: Repair the temperature control valve, then clear the alarm on the HMI.
